Description

  • Comfortable family tent with 14-by-9-foot footprint that sleeps up to 4 people
  • Coated polyester fabric, welded floor, and taped rainfly are guaranteed to keep you dry
  • Floorless screened room is ideal for eating during showers or storing extra gear
  • Easy-to-set-up design with color-coded pole sleeves and shock-corded poles
  • Center height of 80 inches; interior gear pocket and electrical access port; 1-year warranty

From the screened porch room to the adjustable ventilation features, the Coleman WeatherMaster 4 screened tent is packed with features for comfort and convenience at the campsite. The WeatherMaster 4 is outfitted with Coleman's exclusive WeatherTec system, a series of technical features intended to protect you from inclement weather and nasty storms.

The WeatherMaster 4 includes a floorless screened room for meals or gear storage.
WeatherTec tents are built with a coated polyester fabric combined with anti-wicking thread, webbing, and zippers, all designed to keep you dry when the rain comes down. The tent's welded waterproof floor and inverted floor seams, meanwhile, dramatically increase the water resistance by hiding the needle holes inside the tent and away from the elements. And in addition to offering fully taped rainfly seams, the included rainfly covers the doors and windows tightly and incorporates easy-to-use Velcro frame attachments. Add in a strong, wind-responsive frame--which uses redesigned poles and guy-out triangles to anchor the tent--and you have a shelter that performs like a brick house during a storm. In fact, Coleman is so confident in its WeatherTec system that it exposes its WeatherTec tents to a rain room that simulates nasty downpours, and to a wind machine capable of blowing hurricane force gusts. The results? Even after the tests, Coleman guarantees its WeatherTec tents will keep you dry.

The WeatherMaster 4 boasts a footprint of 14 by 9 feet and a center height of 80 inches, helping up to four people sleep comfortably in the tent with elbowroom to spare. The floorless screened room is an especially nice touch, as it gives you a covered spot for eating meals during a rain shower or taking a break from the sun. You can also store your gear in the room, giving you more room in the sleeping area. And campers will love the Coleman Variflo system, which lets you control the airflow in conjunction with the vented Cool-Air port. Other features include an easy-to-set-up design with continuous color-coded pole sleeves and shock-corded poles; reverse angle windows; a privacy vent window; an interior gear pocket; an electrical access port; and easy-to-follow instructions sewn into the durable carrying bag, which comes with extra storage bags for the poles and stakes.

The tent's sleeping area accommodates up to 4 people.

About Coleman
More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a "no light, no pay" clause--a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked--and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark.

In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company's current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. There are coolers that keep food and drinks cold for days on end, comfortable airbeds that won't deflate during the night, a complete line of LED lights that last for years, powerful portable grills that cook with an authentic open-grill flame, and much, much more. Coleman has truly fashioned much of our outdoor camping experience, and expects to do so for generations to come.

Coleman WeatherMaster Screened 4 Tent Customer Review

An excellent tent for the price.

Easy for one person to put up, but because of the height of the tent, the rain fly is a bit difficult to get in place. Also, the eight rain fly tie down lines tend to get tangled up. I have found that unless there are extremely high wind conditions, you really don't need them, so I just coiled them up and secured them with wire ties.

It has withstood one very heavy rainfall with no noticeable leakage. More than I can say for any other tent I have used.

Ventilation is great. Plenty of screened panels that can be opened. The "hinged" door is nice too. The screened room is a real plus, but it would have been even more so had they extended the tent floor to cover it too.

It is difficult to get it rolled up enough to get it back in the carrying case, but that is true of every tent I have ever owned.

Very happy with it thus far.

  • Nesting wisk and dustpan
  • Tent stake puller
  • Rubber tent peg mallet

  • Breathable mesh storage bag

Description

  • Comprehensive tent kit for setting up your tent
  • 4 sturdy 10-inch steel tent stakes for tent corners
  • Solid rubber mallet for pounding stakes into ground
  • Handy whisk broom/dust pan combo for cleaning up
  • Tent stake puller preserves fingers; mesh storage bag

The Coleman tent kit comes with everything you need to set up and break down your tent. The kit starts with four sturdy 10-inch steel tent stakes, which keep your tent from blowing away in the middle of the night. The solid rubber mallet, meanwhile, makes it easy to pound the stakes into the ground, so you don't have to search fruitlessly for a nearby rock. When it's time to pack up, you can turn to the easy-to-use tent stake puller, which keeps your fingers from cramping up. And no one wants to bring the campsite home, which is why the kit includes a handy whisk broom/dust pan combo for cleaning the tent floor. A must-have for frequent campers, the tent comes with a handy mesh storage bag.

About Coleman
The Coleman Company has been creating and innovating products for recreational outdoor use since W.C. Coleman started selling gasoline-powered lanterns in 1900. Inventor of the hugely popular fold-up camp stove, Coleman developed a plastic liner for his galvanized steel coolers in 1957--the birth of the modern cooler--and the company has been improving their utility and design ever since. The array of products that bear the Coleman name now includes just about everything you might need to work or play outdoors, from tents and sleeping bags to boats, backpacks, and furniture.

Coleman Tent Kit Customer Review

I bought this kit for my husband after our first camping trip and my husband 1) forgot to bring a mallet and broom and dustpan and 2) the stakes that came with our tent all bent the first time we tried to hammer them in.

It's nice to get it all in one little sack so we don't forget anything. I have since decided a large broom and battery operated hand vac suits my taste better than a little broom and dustpan, but those are still handy to have around.

The stakes in this kit are sturdier than the ones that came with our tent (i.e., they don't bend easily). The mallet works and we have no problem with it.

The stake puller works, but only if the stakes aren't stuck in the ground. The last time we used it, the stakes wouldn't come out and we were afraid plastic heads on the stakes would come off with the stake puller. It would be nice if either the stake heads weren't made of plastic or the stake puller would grip stake body so we could get a grip on the stake and pull.

Other than the problem with removing the stakes, I have no complaints.

Trek Cotton Canvas Cabin Tent, 9x12, 7 Person Customer Review

Four family members spent 4 days and nights in the Superior National Forest near Ely, Mn. Weather was in the 20's and low 30's at night. With proper heat, the tent was as warm as a cabin. Just keep the windows cracked. Rain fly withstood the couple of inches of snow we received. Deer hunting was pretty good also. We might expand tent city to include another 10x14 or a 9x12 next year. The zippers are a few inches off the ground. Nice tent Trek. Dennis from Minnesota.

Amazon.com Tent Guide
Selecting a Tent
Fortunately, there are all kinds of tents for weekend car campers, Everest expeditions, and everything in-between. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Expect the Worst
In general, it's wise to choose a tent that's designed to withstand the worst possible conditions you think you'll face. For instance, if you're a summer car camper in a region where weather is predictable, an inexpensive family or all purpose tent will likely do the trick--especially if a vehicle is nearby and you can make a mad dash for safety when bad weather swoops in! If you're a backpacker, alpine climber or bike explorer, or if you like to car camp in all seasons, you'll want to take something designed to handle more adversity.

Three- and Four-Season Tents
For summer, early fall and late spring outings, choose a three-season tent. At minimum, a quality three season tent will have lightweight aluminum poles, a reinforced floor, durable stitching, and a quality rain-fly. Some three-season tents offer more open-air netting and are more specifically designed for summer backpacking and other activities. Many premium tents will feature pre-sealed, taped seams and a silicone-impregnated rain-fly for enhanced waterproofness.

For winter camping or alpine travel, go with a four season model. Because they typically feature more durable fabric coatings, as well as more poles, four-season tents are designed to handle heavy snowfall and high winds without collapsing. Of course, four-season tents exact a weight penalty of about 10 to 20 percent in trade for their strength and durability. They also tend to be more expensive.

Domes and Tunnels
Tents are broadly categorized into two types, freestanding, which can stand up on their own, and those that must be staked down in order to stand upright. Freestanding tents often incorporate a dome-shaped design, and most four-season tents are constructed this way because a dome leaves no flat spots on the outer surface where snow can collect. Domes are also inherently stronger than any other design. Meanwhile, many three-season models employ a modified dome configuration called a tunnel. These are still freestanding, but they require fewer poles than a dome, use less fabric, and typically have a rectangular floor-plan that offers less storage space than a dome configuration. Many one and two-person tents are not freestanding, but they make up for it by being more lightweight. Because they use fewer poles, they can also be quicker to set up than a dome.

Size Matters
Ask yourself how many people you'd like to fit in your fabric hotel now and in the future. For soloists and minimalists, check out one-person tents. If you're a mega-minimalist, or if you have your eye on doing some big wall climbs, a waterproof-breathable bivy sack is the ticket. Some bivy sacks feature poles and stake points to give you a little more breathing room. Also, if you don't need bug protection and you want to save weight, check out open-air shelters.

Families who plan on car camping in good weather can choose from a wide range of jumbo-sized tents that will accommodate all your little ones with room to spare. A wide range of capacities is also available for three- and four-season backpacking and expedition tents. Remember, though, the bigger the tent you buy, the heavier it will be, although it's easy to break up the tent components among several people in your group. It's also helpful to compare the volume and floor-space measurements of models you're considering.

Wenzel Grand Lodge 14- by 12-Foot, 8 Person Cabin Dome Tent Customer Review

I purchased this tent last fall, and used it for the first time this Memorial Day Weekend. We were very close to a tornado, we had 60 mph winds and 3 inches of rain, the tent held fine and kept us dry. I have 2 children, we use the 2 rooms of the tent as bedrooms with one large queen airbed in one, and 2 single airbeds in the other. there is still lots of room for gear(although I never could figure out where the storage loft was), and plenty of head room for my 6ft tall husband. I have set the tent up myself, it is a great design and very easy to both set up and break down. I love this tent and would recommend it to anyone.

Columbia Bugaboo II 12-Foot-by-9-Foot 4-Pole 5-Person Dome Tent Sale

Bring the family to the campsite and still have room to spare with the Columbia Bugaboo II dome tent. About Columbia Sportswear
Founded in 1938, Columbia Sportswear Company has grown from a small family-owned hat distributor to one of the world's largest outerwear brands and the leading seller of skiwear in the United States. Columbia's extensive product line includes a wide variety of outerwear, sportswear, rugged footwear and accessories. Columbia specializes in developing innovative products that are functional yet stylish and offer great value. Eighty-year-old matriarch Gert Boyle, Chairman of the Board, and her son, Tim Boyle, President and CEO, lead the company.

Columbia's history starts with Gert's parents, Paul and Marie Lamfrom, when they fled Germany in 1937. They bought a small hat distributorship in Portland, Oregon, and named it Columbia Hat Company, after the river bordering the city. Soon frustrated by poor deliveries from suppliers, the Lamfroms decided to start manufacturing products themselves. In 1948, Gert married college sweetheart Neal Boyle, who joined the family business and later took the helm of the growing company. When Neal suddenly died of a heart attack in 1970, Gert enlisted help from Tim, then a college senior. After that it wasn't long before business really started to take off. Columbia was one of the first companies to make jackets from waterproof/breathable fabric. They introduced the breakthrough technology called the Columbia Interchange System, in which a shell and liner combine for multiple wearing options. In the early 1980s, then 60 year-old Gert began her role as "Mother Boyle" in Columbia's successful and popular advertising campaign.

The company went public in 1998 and moved into a new era as a world leader in the active outdoor apparel industry. Today, Columbia Sportswear employs more than 1,800 people around the world and distributes and sells products in more than 50 countries and to more than 12,000 retailers internationally.

The Bugaboo II dome tent measures 12 by 9 feet and sleeps up to five people.

Wenzel Beartooth 14- by 10-Foot, 5 Person Pentadome Family Tent Sale

Sturdy and weather-resistant, the Wenzel Beartooth 14-by-10-foot Pentadome tent offers plenty of center head room and a large sleeping area, making it ideal for a couple of campers with lots of gear or a family of five with a dog. The Beartooth is made of rugged, weather-resistant polyester with a polyurethane coating for reliability, helping it keep water out and warmth in. The Beartooth is also quick and easy to set up, with a five-way center hub with a ping-and-ring system, along with a lightweight, shock-corded fiberglass frame. And should you need a place to stash your wallet, keys, and iPod while sleeping, you can turn to the overhead gear loft. Wenzel Beartooth 14- by 10-Foot, 5 Person Pentadome Family Tent Customer Review

I would recomend this tent to any family. You can't find a better value. Set up is really easy if you have 2 people. The tent is very roomy though oddly shaped. I am 5'9 and I could stand up with a couple inches to spare. The is a rather large lip in the front of the main door I am not sure why they made it so tall its kinda a tripping hazzard for clutsy people like us. Overall were are completely satisfied!
